#68 – A Sign of Things to Come

Welcome back to #68, also dubbed “Battlefield Podcast Raw and Uncut”!

Oh boy, what could this mean? Just a more loose attitude of the hosts really, no post-production, as near live as recording a podcast can be. We talk about mod updates, the lack of news in the 2142 universe, and most importantly those recent Battlefield 3 rumors. Are they true? Who knows. Are they likely? We think so.

    yeah that's me i'm in a KC-135 stratotanker where the boom operator sits. I'm in the Civil Air Patrol, which is a military program and we get to fly planes and such. I already flew a cessna 182 for about an hour.

    Well, feel free to send me those files if you like and I'll post them, but it will be up to the users to figure out how to use them.
  • Well, most subtitles I've used so far were in .srt format, which is just a text file with timecodes and their associated lines. Of course, this means you have to have a subtitle-capable player...

    The subtitles can also be embedded into the video, but that's essentially a whole new file to be distributed.

    It could be a flash player feature, but so far I think only Google Video's player supports subtitles...

    I think the idea is great, but what format would subtitles be in?
  • Is there any way we could provide translations (as subtitles?) for the podcast? I might not be able to translate all the time, but I might do it if I'm bored and have nothing to do... I can translate into Portuguese, specifically.

    Note on the BF3 rumors, it's not 40 players per map, but 40 players per team, per map, so 80 players per map.

    I had the same problem on iTunes, but the rss feeds are back up on the xboxpodcast.com site pointing to the right show. What's the deal? Somethings misrouted or mislinked.

    There is no more WoW Podcast or Xbox Podcast and I had to set the feed to something else, but I set it to the wrong thing. Sorry!

    No we're both using headphones but we're not recording in a professional studio with pro equipment, so things like that tend to happen. I'll take a bit more care next episode on the over-modulation.

    Hmm, interesting. 40 player per side would be chaotic, I think, but groundbreaking nonetheless. Unfortunately DICE is pretty tight-lipped on this right now.

    Hey guys, uesd to be on the old forum under the name LWyoda. Just thought I'd say on the segment for BF3 where you said it will have 40 players per team... you interpreted it as 40 players as a whole in one game (i.e. 20 players on each side). However I interpret it as being 80 players in total (hence 40 players per team), which would be quite an achievement). Would be nice if someone could verify this :).
