BATTLEFIELD PODCAST TO BEGIN BASHING BATTLEFIELD

Nantucket, MA April 1, 2010 — TuxMedia is pleased to announce a shift in direction for its largest podcast property, the Battlefield Podcast. Working in conjunction with Infinity Ward, Battlefield Podcast will begin bashing DICE’s Battlefield series on its audio and video podcast starting in its next episode.

Since 2006 the Battlefield Podcast has been promoting and garnering a community around Swedish Developer DICE’s famed Battlefield franchise. In recent months however, enthusiasm and support have dropped, which prompted this new partnership with Infinity Ward. The developers of the popular online shooter Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2 saw an opportunity to give themselves an advantage in its rivalry with DICE’s Battlefield.

Jan Ole Peek, owner of TuxMedia, made the following statement on Thursday morning: “We’ve been working with DICE for a long time but have never truly felt supported or recognized for our efforts. This new direction will change that and bring more happiness to me personally.” Co-host Heekwon, aka Chalk.Two, only had the following comment: “I just can’t wait to get up in dis shit!”

Representatives for Infinity Ward were unwilling to comment but did not deny the new partnership. Media requests to get a statement from DICE were unsuccessful as most of the DICE team was currently rebooting servers.

The first episode following the new format is to be expected “in about the same amount of time as the last one took to release”, say Jan Ole Peek.

Kelowna, BC, Canada June 23, 2008 — The Battlefield Podcast will reach its 100th episode this Saturday, June 28th, 2008. To celebrate this event, the show will be streamed online at www.tuxmedia.tv/live beginning at 2pm PST and lasting for several hours.

The afternoon and evening will be spent “shooting the breeze” with fans of the Battlefield Podcast as well as guest from the Battlefield community. The mics and webcams will be open for most of the duration of the live show, allowing visitors to chat with the Battlefield Podcast hosts and have their audio/video be streamed live online. The best live moments will be saved and edited into the 100th episode. To contact the live show, add the Skype username “tuxmedialive” or the Stickam username “bfpodcast”. Ok, Episode 100 of the Battlefield Podcast is a mere two weeks away and it’s time to announce some plans:

The show and festivities will be held on Saturday June 28th starting at 2pm PST.

The actual episode’s stories will be recorded around 5pm PST.

Throughout the rest of the time, the idea is to stream live video from Ole’s studio via Stickam (or Ustream). You’ll be able to watch directly from the website, we may play some Battlefield 2, and best of all, you can call in at any time via Skype and chat with us. The best moments outside of the actual episode will be edited and added before episode 100’s final release.

Network Downtime

Since Monday afternoon you may have noticed our websites being down. This was caused by some of actions of former friends and some extremely ignorant behaviour of our hosting provider, Dreamhost. Since then I have moved all of our websites over to GoDaddy.com. Better rates, better support, faster servers, hmmm, maybe this turned out for the better.

I expect that you will notice some lingering issues over the next few days as DNS entries propagate through the Internet and I redo any tweaks that have been lost (note to self: Need more regular file backups). Please be patient. Luckily no data has been lost throughout all of this.

Both Battlefields currently foster their own successful communities, but why do so many folks say that one is better than the other? And perhaps more importantly, is there any truth to it? Or is it just a matter of two different games and people will always play what they enjoy most?

We spend some time with a special guest discussing the difference, exploring ideas as to what’s worked and what hasn’t in the progression from Battlefield 2 to Battlefield 2142, and also speculate just a little bit as to what would be required to make a potential Battlefield 3 a success.
